Gaard Kets presented the main aims of the project Vive la Commune! on the democratic repertoire of ‘communalism’. The project investigates the development of this communalist repertoire in the 150 years that have passed since the Paris Commune of 1871. More specifically, Gaard will present some of his first findings for a paper that he is currently working on, regarding the role of the idea of ‘the Commune’ in council communist theory. How was this communalist legacy used to construct and contest ideas of council democracy?
